OPEN LETTER / PERSONAL MEMO

FROM:  Robert William Butler Jr

RE:  CAMPAIGN ISSUES - 'UNENDING UNCERTAINTY'

Dear Mr. Mourdock,

I read over your positions on issues relative to the upcoming challenges and campaign platform for elections in 2012, to which I heartily concur and affirm.

My purpose for writing is to express interest in subjects discussed in recent interview with John Loeffler which aired on Saturday, August 27th, 2011 on the 'Steel-On-Steel' Broadcast. I was intrigued and pleased as I may be partially responsible for attention given to taxation reform, and had requested a close look into such proposals.

Further, I would also request your indulgence to review my brief memo to Chair of the U.S. House Committee on Budget, Representative Paul Ryan, who recently facilitated the Cut, Cap & Balance proposal and Budget Control Act of 2011.  I don't agree with all the aspects of either of these plans, and envision a better plan, one to which you alluded in your interview with Mr. Loeffler on the referenced Steel-On-Steel Broadcast. I agree almost 100% with your philosophies relative to this, although I would propose slight modifications, which you may consider by reviewing the memo herein referenced, linked below.

Please note that rather than attempt wholesale reform of entitlement programs, unemployment benefits, cutting funding or moving the retirement age for Social Security, Medicaid, Medicare and other existing entitlements, e.g. TANF, SNAP, WIC, etc. we should be concentrating our efforts on reducing the general overhead which is largely responsible for creating the current fiscal crises, i.e. uncontrolled growth of the public sector, ballooning bureaucracies such as EPA, Dept. of Energy, Dept. of Education, DHS, TSA, etc. and focusing our efforts on much needed repair of damages to our economy and the restoration of family budgets, home mortgages and small businesses first, to avoid unnecessary hardships and the destruction of millions of lives, mass starvation and homelessness. These are real problems already. We must not exacerbate them by withdrawal of support for the most vulnerable as a means of cutting costs and reducing out-of-control federal, deficit spending.  On this level of fiscal reform, we must also immediately remove all burdens and obstacles to energy independence.

I appreciate your indulgence to consider my views on the above. As a former member / employee of a family-owned general construction firm, founded and developed by my immediate family and grandparents, the size and scope of which was $60 million annual volume, direct payroll exceeding 500 employees on average, I have some insights to share and would be happy to discuss these issues further at your convenience, if desired.

Sincerely,

Support the 2nd Amendment, BUY LEAD!
